- In Lecture 19 you mastered relative clauses. Today we use the subjunctive for moral opinions and evaluations — how Brazilians judge actions and situations.
Tip: É uma vergonha que… is strong but common in Brazilian public discourse. Use with care in personal conversations.

The subjunctive expresses a judgment about a situation — often something that shouldn’t happen but does.

Brazilian speech: Many Brazilians use indicative after não acho que in casual speech (Não acho que ela vem). In class, learn the subjunctive rule; notice both in real life.
